Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
An important official said the attack left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
