Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
